Something Borrowed, Something Blue

(Linda Sierra x Cobalt Rings) Sev. 5 .5"fl. 31" sc. M 20 buds. I have used Linda Sierra heavily in my blue eyed program for cold hardiness because it goes completely dormant in my garden. Crossing it with Cobalt Rings intensified the blue eye and edge of Cobalt Rings. The result is a rose to lavender pink self with a deep green throat and a dark blue to blue violet eye surrounded by a darker mascara band. The eye continues around the ruffled and crimped petal edges as a dark blue to blue violet edge intermixed with a bubbly wire gold edge and small blue teeth. The eye is mimicked on the sepals, but while the eye is a dark blue, the mimic on the sepals is a very light sky blue. The seedlings have been nothing short of amazing, with navy blue eyes and powder blue mimicking sepals. And, with the pink self, imagine blue eyes on red flowers! Beautiful and an important breeder!!
