Gloucester

(April LaQuinta x Lady Alvatine). Sev. 6.5" fl., 28-31" sc. M. 15-20 buds. Excellent rust resistance. Fertile both ways. April LaQuinta has been one of my favorite pastels to come from my breeding program. Its large flowers continue to bloom for 5 months in our garden. More recently, Lady Alvatine appeared, with its massive flowers on tall scapes, which also bloomed from May to September. It was a natural cross, and one made in Heaven. Gloucester is a very large cream flower with a pink blush and deep green throat. The blooms are very round, with wide, wide petals. The petal edges are surrounded by huge looping and deeply folding ruffles. The gorgeous flowers are presented on tall scapes. Gloucester got the very best from two of my all-time favorite pastels.
