Antigua Isle

(Precious Candy x Blue Eden). Sev. 6" fl. 28" sc. M 20 buds. Good rust resistance. Fertile both ways. The flowers of Antigua Isle are a medium lavender purple with a large pattern eye surrounding a green throat. The violet eye is surrounded by a burgundy band. The eye continues around the petal edges as a very, very wide picotee. The picotee and eye are so large that they often leave only a dollop of petal color. The petal edges are extremely ruffled, and are covered in looping gold. Antigua Isle has been one of my most used parents in the blue lines. One of my goals is to take the true blue color in some of our seedlings and push the blue eye and edge to take up the entire surface of the flower, creating a blue flower. I have also used Antigua Isle heavily in my pattern lines in an effort to make the pattern cover most of the petal surface, producing bands of color within both the eye and a wide surrounding rainbow edge. Antigua Isle is not only a beautiful flower in its own right, but such an important parent for the future of the blue and pattern daylily!!
