*SHANGHAI PARASOL -- (Lady Betty Fretz x Strawberry Lightening) (Shadows of the Rainbow x Vivacious Pam) Sev. 5.5 fl. 24 sc. M. 20-25 buds.  Shanghai Parasol is a continuation of our red eye, red edged lines.  Like several other of our introductions, it has a large, bright red eye and a wide matching red picotee.  Surrounding the red edge is a second gold edge, giving the flower the impression of being back-lit.  At the center of the flower is a deep green throat.  The base color of soft pink compliments the red eye and edge.  What makes Shanghai Parasol distinctive, however, is its large triangular, or chevron, eye, which is hard to capture on film.  The eye spreads out along the petal surface, giving the impression of a flower inside a flower, in this case red flower inside of a pink flower.  This pattern is mimicked by the red picotee and gold edge.
