*GENTLE PRESENCE -- (Wedding Band x Tet. Priscilla’s Rainbow) (Winter Palace) Sev. 6” fl. 24” sc. M. The blooms of Gentle Presence are a pale baby ribbon pink with a large green throat.  The petal edges are surrounded by a crimped , ruffled gold edge.  The substance is very heavy on impeccably formed flowers.  The throat is surrounded by a darker halo eye.    The flowers bloom on relatively short scapes, just above the foliage.  This flower was bred to bring  formal cutting edge form and gold edging into the patterned daylily.  The pollen parent (Wedding Band x Tet. Priscilla’s Rainbow) was a cross made by Larry Grace, who generously allowed me to use some of the pollen.  Larry, like myself, was trying to improve patterned daylilies, which as a rule, have little to no ruffling or gold edging.  Crossing Larry’s seedling onto Winter Palace gave me one of the most beautiful pink daylilies in the garden, with a muted  eye.  I have taken Gentle Presence to my best pinks as well as the patterned eyes, since it is both beautiful and a critical breeder for patterned as well as pink daylilies.
