*EXPENSIVE TASTE -- (Dreams of Heroes x J. T. Davis) Sev. 6 fl. 20 sc. M. 20 buds.  The flowers of Expensive Taste are a cream to cream pink with a green throat and gold edge.  The gold edge is typically heavily ruffled, crimped and bubbly.  What makes Expensive Taste so important is its very, very heavy substance.  Each flower seems to weigh several pounds, and I often joke that I need a chain saw to remove a bloom.  Like many of the plants from J. T. Davis, the plants have relatively short scapes, presenting the flowers just above the foliage.  While I prefer taller scapes and saw this as a potential fault, everything else about Expensive Taste more than makes up for this.  My very best pink seedlings have consistently come from this cultivar.  After repeatedly seeing winners from this plant, it quickly became the most heavily used parent in my pink breeding because of its extremely heavy substance which it imparts to its kids.  Also, like most of the J. T. Davis offspring, it is easy to get tall beautifully branched seedlings from Expensive Taste in the first generation.  The plants are also  very fertile, easily setting pods.
